Honey Guide

Armagh – Loughgall

Springhill Apiaries keeps bees in the Armagh area, producing honey from a wide range of sources such as dandelion, apple, hawthorn and sycamore in the spring. In summer they forage on lime and clover before moving onto bramble and balsam towards the end on the season. In autumn they have ivy, a good source of nectar and pollen which mostly remains in the hives for the bees over the winter months.

Dublin – Clontarf East, Killester

DFive Honey keeps over 1 million bees in the Clontarf, Killester & Bull Island regions of Dublin. I put my bees first. There is never use of chemicals in my hives and I only ever take a surplus of the wonderful honey produced.

This ensures plentiful stores to get through the winter. My approach is a very natural one led by years of meticulous observation, I follow the bees natural instincts rather than bend them to my own wishes.

This leads to very content, healthy & docile bees that are a joy to be around. I am a horticulturist\garden designer and floral consultant by trade, having one of the most varied collections of rare Buddleia flowering species in Ireland along with other choice and exotic specimens in my garden.

When I am not in the garden planting another rarity or watching the bees come and go as they do, I rescue and relocate our native bumblebee species as well as other fascinating insects for conservation and observation.
